What Is a Wellness Fabric?

What is a wellness fabric?+

A wellness fabric is plant-based cloth for garments and home textiles that sit on skin. Hemp is the graded fiber in it: no plastic microfiber to shed, and no pesticide-grown inputs in the cloth.

A wellness fabric is plant-based cloth for the garments and home textiles that sit on skin. The definition Imperium Fiber published in its journal is specific: no plastic microfiber shed, and no pesticide-grown inputs in the cloth. Hemp is the center of that cloth. Industrial hemp here is fiber under the 2018 Farm Bill, at or below 0.3% delta-9 THC. It is not marijuana and it is not CBD.

Imperium Fiber's journal is where that definition is written out by category. Heartland Industries makes Imperium Fiber. HFGA is affiliated with Heartland. That interest is stated here on purpose, the same way the registry requires a commercial interest to be disclosed.

What a Wellness Fabric Is

A wellness fabric is a material choice, not a hangtag adjective and not a health claim. The cloth is cellulose: hemp, and where the construction calls for it, lyocell, cotton, or wool. Polyester filament is the thing this definition leaves out, because polyester sheds plastic microfiber in the wash. Plant-fiber lint is not that shed.

The hemp has to be a grade a mill can actually run. A bale of ungraded straw is not a wellness fabric. The HFGA US Hemp Textile Standard is the language for that grade. Licensing sits with USDA AMS. The wider set of Imperium's notes is on the journal index.

Where Hemp Wins Inside a Wellness Fabric

The wins are not a slogan that hemp beats every other fiber on every acre. They are three things a buyer can check: a licensed acre, a cotton-system grade, and a registered product that does not pretend to be certified.

A Wellness Fabric Starts on a Licensed Hemp Acre

Seed comes first. Certified seed under the AOSCA framework, introduced through HFGA's seed desk, is the document a buyer and a regulator both ask for. Heartland's own account is that Imperium is grown with corn, soy, alfalfa, and cotton farmers, and that the crop uses about 95% less water than cotton. That water figure is Heartland's, not a USDA national average. The acre is still a Farm Bill acre.

Cotton-System Hemp Is What a Wellness Fabric Mill Can Spin

Grade TX-A is the blend and cottonized grade: the bast that can enter a cotton spinning system. That is the win behind US hemp spun with Supima cotton, the 24s/1 and 38s/1 GSM bands, and 120–200 thread-count bed linen. A wellness fabric for sheets is that spin. It is not a coarse nonwoven lot relabeled for the bedroom. Off-grade fiber stays on the decorticated fiber standard, not in this cloth.

Registration Is a Wellness Fabric Record, Not a Certificate

Imperium Fiber is the first product in the HFGA registry, declared at Grade TX-A. The registration article is blunt about what that is: a public declaration, not a conformity claim. No lot verification record exists yet. Until one does, the honest sentence is "registered," not "certified." The registry entry is the page to read.

How Buyers Specify a Wellness Fabric

Buyers do not order "wellness" as a SKU. They order a construction. The hemp grade stays. The yarn and the cloth change with the job.

Activewear and Swim Are One Wellness Fabric Family

Imperium's journal describes wellness fabric for activewear as a hemp-lyocell knit from one 40/2 yarn, from a high-hold sports bra to a studio pant, with no polyester filament in the cloth. Swim is the same yarn family, knit around 160 to 220 GSM so opacity holds when the suit is wet. When a knit needs recovery, elastane is a separate percentage that has to be disclosed. Recovery yarn is not a polyester body. The notes are wellness fabric for activewear and wellness fabric for swimwear.

Home Textiles Are a Different Wellness Fabric

Sheets, towels, and drapery in this definition are US-grown hemp spun with Supima cotton. That is cellulose cloth, not polyester bedding. It is also not the activewear ply. A mill that drops a gym yarn onto a sheeting loom will miss hand and thread count. The construction notes are in wellness fabric for home textiles and in our polyester alternative piece.

Outerwear Is a Wool-Blend Wellness Fabric

Jackets, overshirts, and mid-layers in the journal use hemp with wool from a 24s yarn. Wool brings the insulation. Hemp is there to cut fiber cost against a wool-only cloth, not to imitate a nylon shell. Read wellness fabric for outerwear next to what a wellness yarn is. The product that puts yarn and cloth on one hemp fiber is introduced in the first wellness fabric and yarn.

Trust is the grade and the registry, stated without a certificate we have not issued. Education is the construction: activewear, home, and outerwear are not one fabric. Profit is a contracted textile acre that a mill can spin, which is the only hemp win that shows up on an invoice.
